KAZIND-2024 is the 8th edition of the joint military exercise between India and Kazakhstan

The eighth edition of the joint military exercise between India and Kazakhstan, KAZIND-2024, began on 30th September 2024, in Auli, Uttarakhand, India, and will continue until 13th October 2024. This annual military engagement is a vital step in reinforcing the defence partnership between the two nations, focusing on collaboration in counter-terrorism operations, joint tactical drills, and fostering stronger relationships between the armed forces.

Background of the KAZIND Exercise

Initiated in 2016, KAZIND is an annual military exercise designed to provide an opportunity for the armies of India and Kazakhstan to collaborate, exchange knowledge, and improve tactical skills. The event alternates between the two nations, with the previous edition held in Otar, Kazakhstan from 30th October to 11th November 2023. Over the years, this exercise has evolved into a strategic initiative, demonstrating the increasing military and diplomatic ties between India and Central Asia.

For KAZIND-2024, India is represented by soldiers from the KUMAON Regiment (120 personnel) and the Indian Air Force, while Kazakhstan has deployed troops from their Land Forces and Airborne Assault Troopers.
